14 year old kids can already have a taste of what it’s like to work and earn money. There are a multitude of jobs for 14 year olds that you can try to give you a preview of what is to come in the coming years where you will have to work for a living. Working as early as 14 years old will help you become more responsible towards yourself and money, and you can carry on what you have learned during these jobs when you grow up to become a successful individual, work-wise. Here are some of the jobs you can dabble in and see if you can do any one of them.
Pet Sitter
You can look after your neighbors’ and friends’ pets while they are away for the day or even a few days. If you love taking care of animals, this can give you good money on the weekends and in the summer. You basically feed the pets, play with them, clean their cages and occasionally give them baths. If they will be away for a few days, you can take them home with you as long as your parents approve having other pets in the house. When pet sitting, you have to make sure that you know how to handle the animals to avoid any injuries to both you and the animal.
Newspaper/Magazine/Flyer Delivery Boy
You can ask the local newspaper/magazine office or local businesses that distribute flyers to houses if you can be their delivery guy for the summer. You can use your bike, if you have one, to deliver newspapers, magazine and flyers in the neighborhood, or you can just walk around. It will also serve as our exercise. You only have to do this a few days in a week so you can still do something else if you really want to earn a lot of money for the summer.
Blog Writer
Are you a computer addict where you spend many hours a day in front of your computer? And you can compose poems, articles and general content that you want to share with people all over the world? Then you can make profitable use of your time by blogging. You can either make your own blog website, where you can earn by placing advertisements on your page, or shop around the Internet where you can contact the blog writer and offer your writing services. The key to being a successful blog writer is to write not only interesting and famous topics but also writing topics that you know and like. You can polish your writing skills by looking up writing tutorials on the Internet.
Farm Hand
If you live on the countryside, chances are you will find a job on the farm. You can tend to farm animals such as goats, chickens, sheep and whatnot. You can feed them, clean their cages and the area, and give a hand to the farm owner to do some other chores. You can earn good money working as a farm hand as the tasks are not as easy compared to other jobs. Just make sure to be careful around animals so you do not get hurt.
Pet Groomer
Being a pet groomer has its benefits, aside from the money you will earn. If you love animals, you can definitely have a fill of them as a groomer, and you get to hone your animal handling skills that may come in handy in the future. You can knock on doors in the neighborhood to ask if they want their pets to be bathed and groomed, or you can advertise your services on social media. Pet owners will prefer your services than going to a grooming shop as it will save them the time and hassle of going to the groomers. You can do the job in their house or yours, if your parents allow it. Arm yourself with pet grooming kit such as scissors, brush, nail clipper, shampoo, etc. Cutting the animal’s fur and nails require caution, so make sure you know how to do them properly, as it may hurt you or the animal in the process if you handle them incorrectly.
There are other jobs for 14 year olds that you can look up on the Internet or what your community needs that teenagers like you can do. As a 14 year old though, you will not be allowed to work more than 3 hours per day or 18 hours per week and not later than 7 pm. But in the summer, you can work for up to 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week until 9 pm. Learn to manage your time well so you can take on other simple paying jobs to help you earn more money.
