Jobs for 15 Year Olds

Teenagers are best taught about financial independence and good work ethics by letting them experience what it’s like to work, even if it’s just a few hours each day. Working part-time or during the summer break is a good way to break them into the real world of working for a living, face different types of people each day and teaching them the value of hard work and money. Fifteen-year old kids can be responsible enough to handle simple jobs and even handling money. The earlier we teach them about being responsible, the younger they will become responsible for themselves and their actions. Here are some jobs for 15 year olds that teenagers can try.

Special Skills Tutoring

If you have special talents in any field such as playing sports, skateboarding, painting, dancing or singing, you can advertise your services to neighbors and friends, and even on your social media. You can charge from $10 onwards per hour, depending on the difficulty of the skill. You can teach younger kids and even adults the basics of the skill, or if you are an ace, you can teach your students advanced techniques. You can further your skills by watching videos on the Internet. There is not much equipment needed except for painting where you have to bring your own materials, or if your student already has them, you can both use them. Your only capital in this job is your knowledge and skill, and they’re free. You can earn good money from tutoring.

Housekeeping and Yard Work

You may not like the sound of cleaning houses and yards but in the long run they will benefit you in more ways that you can imagine. Cleaning the inside of the house does not take too much skill. Wiping, sweeping, vacuuming and keeping things are basically what you will have to do. And you don’t have to bring any equipment. The home’s cleaning implements are what you will use for the job. You just have to be careful about breakables so you don’t get charged. On the other hand, yard work is more for boys because the job is more tedious. Weeding, cutting shrubs and small trees, mowing the lawn and gathering and dumping the trimmings are usually what yard work entails.

Car Wash Employee

As a car wash employee, all you need to bring are extra clothes because they will surely get soaked from a few hours on the job. Working at the car wash is not too hard, as most car washes use machines where cars pass through end come out squeaky clean. But you still need to do some wiping and whatnot. You work during the weekends or in the summer when the weather can be unforgiving. Water splashes, although they can be a little soapy, can cool you down during very hot days and still earn money.

Personal Assistant

Being a personal assistant is one of the jobs for 15 year olds that may sound daunting at first, but actually it’s not. You can first ask your friends’ moms if they want you as their personal assistant. You can run errands for them such as pick up the prescription at the pharmacy, wrap gifts, type up some correspondence and even make a quick run to the grocery store to pick up some things for dinner. You will learn to manage your time in between tasks and become responsible for things assigned to you. When you get to work in the corporate world, you will be assigned such tasks and more, and get them done on time and when the time comes, you will be more than ready to take on the challenge. Accepting orders from superiors will also become a breeze and with less resistance on your part because you have experienced it earlier on.

Swimming Instructor

You can teach small children and adults how to swim. Learning how to swim is a must for everyone, so you will surely get a lot of clients. Start in your neighborhood and ask if anyone wants to learn how to swim, either in their own pool, in your home’s pool, if you have one, or in the nearby public pool. This job is best done during the summer when the weather is best for taking a few hours in the pool. You’ll get more clients because your fees will be more affordable compared to professional swimming instructors.

These jobs for 15 year olds are good training grounds for teens to arm them with the right attitude, skills and knowledge that will prepare them for years to come when they have to work for a living and not depend on anyone for their finances.
