Electrolux is a brand that many of us grew up with, so it’s natural when shopping for a vacuum to gravitate toward something you’re familiar with. However, with so many options available (Dyson, Shark, Hoover) it can be hard to determine which one is right for you. That’s where we come in. We’ve gathered and analyzed reviews from experts and consumers to help you determine which vacuum is best for you.
The vacuum
Electrolux has come a long way since it started making and selling vacuums in 1919. Far from the clunky “Lux” it used to sell, the Electrolux Ergorapido Ion EL1030A is a bagless, cordless stick vacuum, weighing in at a sleek 5.3 pounds. You can charge it either standing upright on the floor or via a wall-mounted charging station, so it works well in smaller homes and runs for 30 minutes on one charge.
In addition to the charging station, the Ergorapido Ion comes with a dusting brush and crevice nozzle, along with a washable filter, which is both a money-saver and more environmentally friendly. The LED headlight makes it possible to see what’s lurking in corners, and the swiveling head makes it more maneuverable.
The Electrolux Ergorapido Ion has a suggested retail price of $249.99, according to the Electrolux website, and can be purchased through third-party retailers such as Amazon.

The reviews
We’ve analyzed reviews of some of the most popular stick vacuums on the market to come up with a definitive buyer’s guide. We looked at expert opinions from review sites such as The Sweethome, CNET and Good Housekeeping. Next, we analyzed user reviews to see what shoppers were saying about the various attributes of each vacuum.
To make our ratings, which run from a low score of 1 to a high of 10, we considered what users reported about the vacuums’ overall performance and how they performed in a variety of settings, such as on stairs or hardwood floors. We also factored in reviewers’ observations on characteristics such as noise level, durability and battery life for a well-rounded look at each model.
Overall, this vacuum performed a little below average, scoring 8.4 overall (the average was 8.6), and came in sixth out of the eight stick vacuums we reviewed.
The pros
Reviewers raved about the way the Electrolux Ergorapido Ion handled on stairs, ranking it a perfect 10. Users also loved its light weight (9.6), the way it cleaned hard floors (9.4) and picked up pet hair (9.4), and how well it cleaned overall (9.0).
These are the qualities reviewers liked best:
- The way it cleaned stairs
- Quiet while it worked
- Powerful on pet hair
The cons
Though it posted a relatively good score of 8.4 on cleaning carpets, many users complained that it didn’t clean rugs — especially plush ones. Despite its light weight and swivel head (or perhaps because of that), the Electrolux Ergorapido Ion’s maneuverability scored only an 8.4, but its durability and battery life didn’t even make it out of the 7s. As for Electrolux’s customer service and repair, the Swedish company scored only a 5.
Reviewers considered these the machine’s biggest faults:
- Its durability
- Short battery life
- Customer service and repair
The verdict
If you have a relatively small home with wood or tile floors and a lot of stairs, or need a stick vac for quick cleanups on hard floors, the Electrolux Ergorapido Ion is the machine for you. Carpeted homes probably won’t get as clean as you want with this machine. You’d be better off purchasing a Dyson V6 Motorhead, if you want to spend that kind of money, or the more economical Shark Navigator Freestyle.
